Starting New: 11 Tips for Moving Schools

Nine weeks ago my life changed forever. Late last year I made the unbearable and last minute decision to leave my school. Staying would have meant an awful compromise on my education, and leaving would be one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I took the terrifying risk however and was thankfully accepted into a wonderful school, left in the most amazing way possible, and then grieved over a lost identity, sense of the beautiful community and acceptance, and friends for the Summer. Then the end of holidays arrived and it was time to begin. I knew no one. Read on to find out about my experience and get some tips!

SS14 - Orange lipstick
Baby, it’s getting warmer outside… As spring eases into our lives once more, so has colour. Whilst orange is most certainly not the new black, it’s definitely the new lip to sport this season. Usually it’s red women can’t live without, but if the runways are any indication (spotted at a whole slew of shows like Rag & Bone, DKNY and Prabal Gurung), orange lipstick is poised to be the hottest, go-to colour on every “it” girl’s pout. Tangerine, coral, amber - the shade doesn’t matter. It’s time to embrace a taste of the tropics with this citrus hue on your lips.

Loosen Up: Artists that have gotten me through revising.
At this time of year, most of us are stressing over exams, cramming information and staying up until ungodly hours to revise until our eyes are burning, and our hands are aching from scribbling nonsense onto paper (I know I am). I also know how this pressure and stress can effect mental health, hearing so many of my classmates complain and worry over how this stress is effecting them, so I thought I’d take a break from that state of mind and simmer down a little. If you’re also trying to balance both exams and your health, I’d recommend listening to this list of artist I put together while taking a break from revising. *Feel free to listen too if you’re feeling stressed out anyway*.

SS14 Trends - SneakersIt’s a trend that’s spreading like wildfire amongst the fashionistas of the world . The humble trainer/sneaker, however you wish to call it, in recent years received a rapid extraction from the subcultures that have donned it since forever, making a grand entrance into the fashion world as we know it - from everyday street style to Fashion Week get-ups to catwalks (fully endorsed even by Karl Lagerfeld, as per Chanel AW14, etc.). But how to wear it to save yourself from looking sloppy/like you’re headed to the gym/trying too hard?Read More

Guilt-free (banana) ice-cream
The recipe is so simple, so healthy and so delicious you’ll want to make it every single day. Introduced to me by my beloved friend Dakota.
Serves 2.
Ingredients:
- 2 bananas (frozen and then thawed a bit to soften)
- tablespoonful of 100% peanut or almond butter (I prefer almond)
- dash of skimmed milk, alternatively, unsweetened almond or soy for easier blending
Step 1 (and the only one): Blend in a blender for about a minute until smooth.
Top with favourite fruit or serve plain.
Simple, right?
Enjoy!
